Upcoming Thursday L&F Shows

Hello all,

I've been away but I am returning tomorrow with a STEAMER TRUNK full o'music for you! I'm excited and I hope you will be too!

My thanks to Rick Roth and Bob Dubrow for filling in for me while I was in the Land of Enchantment.

Anyway, here is what's coming up on the Thursday L&F for the next three weeks: tomorrow, June 22 is the return from ABQ record haul show, June 29 is my pleasure to welcome Hal Shubin as guest DJ, and July 6 will be a special show where we will focus on Norman Petty and NOR-VA-JAK studios out of Clovis, NM.

I hope you can join me for one or all of these!

No more playlist posts.

Well, the time has come. It is obvious to me that no one really gives a shit about the playlists here since y'all can get them at track-blaster so I'm going to stop posting them, I'm afraid. I'll still put stuff up that I think is interesting but playlists are a waste of time.

Sharon Jones, May 4, 1956 – November 18, 2016

As the six of you who listen to the show already know, I absolutely loved Miss Sharon Jones. Her story, her presence, and most importantly her music have touched me deeply and I will never stop missing her and lamenting what could still have come from her and her red hot band. However, as a close friend has reminded me "just because she is physically gone doesn't mean that we don't get to continue to love and enjoy what she did while she was here." Namely, her music will always be with us thus she will always be with us as well. This is the last I'm gonna write about her but I am going to keep her music alive on my radio show for as long as I have one. R.I.P. Sharon Jones. You are missed.

Here she is with the Dap-Kings in 2007 at Amoeba Records. This is how I like to remember her...all the power, funk, and life. Enjoy!
